A-level Chemistry

Chemistry underpins our everyday existence. From the moment, you are born and throughout your life, you are surrounded by chemistry. Chemists play a vital role in developing many of the everyday products we take for granted and help to sustain and improve our quality of life. Many of the challenges facing today's society will be overcome with the help of chemical scientists.

Subject Specific Entry Requirements

In addition to the standard entry requirements, the following subject entry criteria should be met: 6 in GCSE chemistry if separate science, or double 6 if combined science. 5 in GCSE English; 5 in GCSE maths

This Course Will Lead to

Universities offer a wide range of different chemistry degrees. These include studying only chemistry, combinations of chemistry with other subjects and chemistry with industrial experience. Studying chemistry can lead to a career which is exciting and enjoyable with lots of variety and opportunities. Many of the jobs chemists do cross the boundaries between the sciences but they also work with professionals in marketing, law, accountancy, ICT, finance, journalism and other areas.
It also is a requirement for medical, dentistry and veterinary courses. Chemistry is an exciting and challenging subject with the potential for significant personal and financial reward.
