Modern foreign languages are without doubt the key to participation within an expanding international community. Fluency in one or more foreign language is a prerequisite for access to jobs within the European Union, the Foreign Office, with major airlines, in tourism, international business, marketing and finance, and is highly sought-after in fields of engineering, computing and science.
Lessons will be conducted mainly in French to ensure maximum exposure to the language and grammatical issues will be explored in greater depth in order to equip students with the means to manipulate the language to a high degree of fluency.
As well as degree courses connected to French, universities are keen to recruit students with a modern foreign language A-level more generally because of the skills it develops. Employers also value this qualification very highly. A knowledge of one or more foreign languages is extremely advantageous for access to jobs in a variety of sectors, such as tourism, international business, marketing and finance, and is highly sought-after in fields of engineering, computing and science.
