BTEC Level 3 Engineering

This course is designed to provide an understanding of the world of engineering. It is a mix between practical engineering, designing, CAD techniques and Engineering Principles. These core skills will provide an excellent foundation of anyone who wishes to follow a profession in any aspect of engineering and industrial design.

Engineering is about problem solving and using your science, maths and technological ability to apply innovations to the real world.

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Engineering is designed for learners who are interested in a career in the engineering sector and want to progress to further study at university or for those planning to enter employment in the Engineering industry.

This qualification has a focus on a broad range of engineering specialist areas. Learners taking this qualification will study:

• engineering principles and mathematics
• health and safety, teamwork and interpreting and creating computer-aided engineering drawings
• design and manufacture of products

Subject Specific Entry Requirements

The following subject entry criteria should be met: Grade 5 in a related technology subject, and a Grade 6 in Maths GCSE. If not Grade 6, you must have a Grade 4 in Maths and take Core Maths alongside.
