Gloucestershire County Council has launched a new school attendance strategy aimed at helping pupils and families overcome barriers to regular school attendance.
The strategy, launched to coincide with the start of the new school year, focuses on providing practical support to families rather than taking a purely punitive approach when children are repeatedly absent from school.
The council says the initiative is designed to help families address the reasons behind absence and make it easier for children to attend school regularly.
